Here are some excerpts of news articles and past guests' testimonial on their experience at the Quebec city hotel Cap Diamant
The perfect place to recover - David Pumb & Judith DiehlOur trip to Quebec City is a pleasant memory in spite of our train difficulties and my wife being very ill (tres malade)for a day. You do not want to say on a trip to Quebec city that you made maximum use of the room but, the room with its stone walls and comfortable beds was peaceful and the perfect place to recover. The street was quiet ; as we live in the country, I was afraid of it being noisy. The loudest noises were the horses walking down to the square in the morning, a lovely sound. The proprietor Florence truly cared for our comfort and did all she could to make our stay a happy one.
We arrived late the first night but Florence reassured us we would not have a problem. The second day she came out with a phone as she saw us waiting for a tour pickup. Her daughter provided us with broth after the day of sickness. I believe her when she says if you are not happy - she is not happy.
By far the best hotel I have ever stayed in.
Warm, friendly, welcoming, charming, historic, superbly located for the old town, all of these describe this hotel. We arrived late in the afternoon on a cold and (very) snowy early December night and were met by the Lady of the House who could not have been kinder in welcoming us to her hotel and explaining everything to us. Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed with a very comfortable bed. It was distinctly cold outside but always warm and comfortable inside. Although we were on the 3rd floor there was a very cunningly hidden luggage lift that whisked our bags up to just outside our room door. From the front door it was only a few minutes walk down the hill to the Chateau Frontenac and the restaurants and shops of the old town, a few minutes to the city walls and the Plains of Abraham and the Upper Town and right next to La Citadelle. We plan to be back in Ville de Quebec for the Fall of 2009 and this will be our first choice for accommodation.
Best experience… Thank you Florence! - Trip Advisor member Fall 2007My wife and I along with another couple stayed at the Hotel, our rooms were #9, which is the beautiful room on the first floor. This room was absolutely lovely; it had two beautiful windows leading to the backyard. I was absolutely satisfied with this location as it was romantic, peaceful. The staff is helpful and very accommodating. We were picked up from the airport and delivered to the front door for $40.00
The backyard offers a splendid opportunity to lounge or exercise in the morning; we used it to have breakfast and drank champagne every evening before heading out into the city.
I will definitely come back again! Dmitry
This 'Maison de touristes' is a charming, noise-free and comfortable haven, located in the Old City within 10 minutes' walking time of nearly everything. Its friendly owner took us in with a warm smile and we became part of the family for the next three days. Don't forget to inquire about the restaurant special, as it will bring you to a very refined table for a reasonable price. And thanks also to Marie Josée!
Would definitely return again! - Oakville Canada March 2008We had beautiful accommodations with a cozy Victorian feel. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It was a great location and had easy access to many main attractions. My stay was just wonderful, and I would definitely return again.
Such a gracious, caring lady... - Don & Pat Frank May 2008We want to thank you for a heavenly four days in your lovely home… We enjoyed it so. We met new friends and chatted with others who were staying with you. We all agree, what a fantastic place with such a gracious, caring lady who did everything to make our stay enjoyable. Our many thanks for all you did to make our trip one that only makes us want to return as soon as possible.
Regards,
Don & Pat Frank
An eclectic collection of vintage furniture and ecclesiastical accents, stained glass from a church, a confessional door, even the old angel, complement the decorative marble fireplaces, stone walls, and hardwood floors at this hotel made up of the adjacent 1826 houses. In the morning you can bring your continental breakfast to your room or dine in a sunroom that overlooks one of the Old City's few gardens. Baggage lift available.
"Most pleasant I've stayed in !" - Susan Spano - The New York Times"I rented the least expensive accommodations in the Cap Diamant, but my room, no.8, was one of the most pleasant I've stayed in - large with a lovely casement window, a border lining the walls that matched the blue spread on the double bed and elegant furnishings from the 1920's and 30's."
"Bona-fide!" - Arthur Frommer - Frommer's guidebookThe CAP DIAMANT, Maison de Touristes, is almost a bona-fide "museum of domestic decoration and exceptional well kept original antiques
"A peaceful immaculate place!" - Susan Griffin, Dollarwise - Canada guideHotel Cap Diamant is a gem of a guest home located of the quiet upper stretch of Ave St Genevieve but within an easy walk of all the sights. With twelve guest rooms, and decorated with deft elegance by proprietor Florence Guillot, this 1826 home is a peaceful immaculate place to tuck into after a day of exploring the city (...)". "Most rooms have big windows and fireplaces, each is decorated in a different style and antique prints and paintings add finishing touches to a homey, refined atmosphere. Mrs Guillot is a charming hostess whose philosophy of "giving guests more than they expect" is evident throughout the establishment
"She is a very special lady!" - Trip Advisor member - Fort Wright KentuckyFlorence met us at the steps of where we would spend an incredible 5 days stay in Quebec City. The best way any of us could describe this perfectly located property, is that we felt like we were at our family's home in Quebec. Florence was always readily available, yet she seemed to disappear into the woodwork. She was invaluable in making dinner reservations, helping us to locate the nearest car rental location, and setting up our cab rides to and from the airport. She is a very special lady. We had the rare opportunity to view many of the other rooms, each of them unique and special. Overall, we had an incredible experience in romantic Quebec city (where we celebrated my husbands 50th birthday). We plan to stay at Hotel Cap Diamant on our return visit in 2008, when we will celebrate my 50th birthday on the 400th year celebration of the founding of Quebec.
